Seth Edens serves as TRIO's VP for the Medical Office Team for Kentucky and Indiana. Previously, Seth represented a 1.1 Million square foot medical office portfolio in the Tri State area. He has extensive experience in lease negotiations, attracting & retaining tenants, new site selection, and has developed relationships with notable hospital administrators, physicians and capital partners. Seth is a University of Kentucky graduate with a degree in finance. After graduating from UK, he went on to a career as an commercial real estate advisor for Sperry Van Ness Ward Commercial Group and eventually moved into a role as the Medical Leasing Specialist for Faulkner Healthcare Real Estate. His professional accomplishments include a CCIM designation and the 2013 recipient of the HCP Cup and the HCP Most Valuable Broker award for his outstanding achievements in the medical real estate field.
In his presentation "Lease Negotiation 101", Seth will be talking about some of the minor overlooked items in a lease document that could be costing you major amounts in your rent. He will also go over some basic terms and definitions of lease document, and common misconceptions of these lease terms.
Maggie Knoll Thacher is a 2006 graduate of the University of Kentucky, College of Design with a BA in Architecture. After graduating, she worked at a local firm in Lexington gaining experience in not only healthcare design but also commercial, equine, and institutional design. Maggie moved to Louisville in 2008 to work with The Estopinal Group Architects, who specialize in healthcare architecture. Over the past two years, she has since moved back to Lexington and recently made the full transition to work exclusively with her father at their firm, MLK Architects, LLC. Maggie concentrates on retrofitting medical office space for physician suites and healthcare provider-based outpatient service suites; however, the firm also provides architectural services for all project types, from conceptual design through construction administration. On a more personal note, Maggie has been happily married for a year and has an amazing two-month-old baby boy.
Maggie’s presentation will cover topics regarding recent trends in healthcare design, including but not limited to the shift to increased outpatient services and the effect on medical office building design, the impact of evidence based design, and interior design trends including color and fabric selections to best suit patients' needs and improve hygiene.
